Justin Dix
Justin Dix is an Associate Professor in Marine Geophysics and the Head of the Geology and Geophysics research group at the National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton, UK [1]. He was awarded 2008 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) along with Luke Pinson, Timothy Henstock, and Jonathan Bull, for their paper Estimating quality factor and mean grain size of sediments from high-resolution marine seismic data.[2]
Biography
Justin Dix graduated with an honors degree (1989) in Geology from the University of Dundee and a Ph.D. from the University of St. Andrews. In 1993, he joined the University of Southampton as a teaching and research fellow in the School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES), now part of the National Oceanography Centre (NOC), and he became a permanent lecturer in 1998 and senior lecturer in 2003. Both positions were joint appointments with the Department of Archaeology until 2007, when Dix moved into SOES full time to become Head of Coastal and Shelf Research at the NOC. His research interests involve development and integration of geophysical, archaeological, sedimentologic, and modeling techniques, for investigation of various scientific problems. [3]
