Biography

Walter R. Roest received an M.Sc. in physics (1982) and a Ph.D. in geophysics (1987), both from the State University of Utrecht, Netherlands. He held a post doctoral fellowship at the Atlantic Geoscience Centre, Bedford Institute of Oceanography, Darmoth, Nova Scotia for two years, before moving to the Geophysics Division, Geological Survey of Canada, Ottawa, as a research scientist. His research interests include interpretation of potential-field data with emphasis on plate tectonic studies. He is a member of AGU, CGU, EGS, and RAS.[1]

Honorable Mention (Geophysics) 1993

W. R. Roest and M. Pilkington received 1993 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) for their paper Identifying remanent magnetization effects in magnetic data [2]

Honorable Mention (Geophysics) 1992

W. R. Roest, J. Verhoef, and M. Pilkington received 1992 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) for their paper Magnetic interpretation using the 3-D analytic signal.[3]
