Mark Kachanov
Honorable Mention (The Leading Edge) 2012
Lev Vernik and Mark Kachanov received 2012 Honorable Mention (The Leading Edge) for their paper "On some controversial issues in rock physics."[1]
Biography 2014
Mark Kachanov received a Ph.D. (1981) in solid mechanics from Brown University, Rhode Island. He worked at Rutgers University, New Jersey, for two years as an assistant professor. In 1982, Kachanov became a faculty member at Tufts University, Massachusetts, where he is now a professor of mechanical engineering. His research is focused on microstructure-property connections for materials with multiple cracks and other inhomogeneities, with applications to rock mechanics.
Kachanov has published one book and more than 110 articles. He is a recipient of the Alexander von Humboldt Award for senior scientists in 1996 and is an editor of Letters in Fracture and Micromechanics.
Update[2]
Professor Kachanov joined Tufts in 1982 as an Associate Professor after an appointment as an Assistant Professor at Rutgers University. He became a Full Professor at Tufts University in 1988. He is an Editor-in-Chief of the "International Journal of Engineering Sciences" and of "Letters in Fracture and Micromechanics". His Science Citation Index is 3,000
