Hank Hamilton received the SEG Foundation’s 2025 Directors’ Award in recognition of his outstanding service, unwavering dedication, and lasting contributions to the geophysical community.

Hank exemplifies the spirit of this prestigious award through his lifelong commitment to advancing the mission of the SEG Foundation and the broader geophysical profession. Over a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the field of geophysics. He began his career with Shell Offshore from 1981 to 1987, where he developed expertise in seismic acquisition and interpretation. He later joined Schlumberger from 1987 to 1995, leading efforts to commercialize multi-client 3D surveys and significantly expanding the company’s marine acquisition fleet across Europe.

In 1995, Hank became CEO of TGS, guiding the company’s transformation from a niche Gulf of America operator into a global leader in geoscientific data services. Serving as CEO until 2009 and continuing as Chairman until his retirement in 2022, his visionary leadership and strategic direction helped propel TGS to international prominence and lasting industry impact.
