On a display board, complete with Camera, motor and Timing line generator, galvo light, galvo and controls. Refraction/Reflection Transition Components were developed by Petty in the early 1930's, primarily to improve the sensitivity of refraction surveys but were also used in early reflection seismic surveys. The amplifier; P-024, and the detector, P-019, were the standard petty units for surveys through most of the remaining 1930's. The 10-string galvanometer recorder was one of the first multi-channel recorders and was patented as the first method to change frequency response and increase gain of the seismic signals as a function of time.
