This amplifier uses an AGC circuit and a GA-41 transformer that had been designed in 1946 by L. G. Cowles for the Superior Oil Co. As with this contractor-built example, the design was changed enough to produce a higher noise level, reduced accuracy and maintenance problems. This design was used from 1946 to 1963.
