This is probably the most sophisticated vacuum tube amplifier ever made for seismic use. It was invented by W. Harry Mayne about 1940 and was known far and wide as "Harry's Model F". It had push-pull output, double acting AVC, etc. and "did everything". Petty made tons of them. then came horizontal stacking (CRP by Mayne) and the need for more and smaller amplifiers. Amplifiers went through an evolution as did other hardware and software. Petty was one of the first to use automatic volume control. This is Petty's third series of amplifiers using AVC.
