Virtual meeting technology

A number of technologies can help smooth the difficulty of working in distributed teams. This page lists a few tools being used by SEG committees to get their work done.
Sharing documents
There are lots of options for sharing documents before and during the meeting. For example:
- Upload documents (preferably PDF or Word) to the SEG e-Communities site
- Share documents live in Google Docs or some other real-time sharing environment
During the meeting, you could experiment with EtherPad for real-time collaborative note-taking.
Virtual meetings
The SEG subscribes to AT&T's Connect service, which is excellent for hosting web-based meetings. It handles audio and visual aspects — but meetings are supplemented with a phone line too.
If your company has an account with GoToMeeting or WebEx, those are also good options. Only the organizer needs a subscription.
