IISER Pune is a research-intensive teaching institute. The whole ambience is very academic with high energy levels to pursue top quality research. The Earth Sciences is undergoing revolutionary changes with newer knowledge and information emerging about the Earth as a number of inter‐related systems: solid earth, atmosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere. Considering the necessity and importance of building a state of the art academic program, IISER Pune has launched a new initiative focusing on Earth and Climate Sciences. Current strengths of IISER Pune in natural sciences and mathematics in both teaching and research will provide a strong foundation to build an interdisciplinary earth and climate sciences program. In addition, this new program will have strong linkages with the neighboring institute, Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune. Prof. Shyam Rai heads the Earth and Climate Sciences program. The Chapter is formed on 23rd of January, 2018. This Chapter is formed to promote the knowledge of Geophysics. This will give an opportunity to the Students to learn modern geophysical technology and to get innovative ideas from the finest experts in the World. Soon, this chapter will conduct events and activities and take part in various events with other geophysical organizations.
