University of South Carolina Geophysical Society
General information
The purpose of the University of South Carolina Geophysical Society (USCGS) shall be to promote interest in, and knowledge of geoscience, in addition to promoting leadership, team-building, and cooperation among those interested in the Geosciences.
The USC Geophysical Society, a student chapter of the Society of Exploration Geophysics, was formed in 2004 and continues to be one of the most active student organizations within the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences. The USCGS has 25+ active members spanning a variety of interests in both Geophysics and Geology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Members routinely participate in a variety of competitions, meetings, workshops, outreach events, and other shared learning experiences. The chapter's objectives shall be to promote an interest in, and knowledge of, integrated geosciences, in addition to incite enthusiasm and cooperation among those interested in the geophysical sciences.
