General information

The Geology Club formed in 2002 as the Geological Society of Temple University (GSTU). The club helps organize field trips, performs service work, and helps welcome new students to the department.

In 2005, the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG) donated funds to form a student chapter to promote the profession of geology on the Temple University campus. The AIPG donation and club funds were used to purchase camping equipment to loan to new students going on field trips for the first time.

In 2009, a student chapter of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) also formed. The SEG chapter helped install the seismometer on the Temple Ambler campus.

Both undergraduates and graduates can join.
