Society of Exploration Geophysicists Universidad Industrial de Santander Student Chapter (SEG UIS CHAPTER) is a active Student Chapter in Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS), Bucaramanga, Colombia. This chapter started its activities around 2010. SEG UIS CHAPTER engage Geology Students from School of Geology in UIS, moreover there are many activities that join the Industry Professionals and Enterprises around the Bucaramanga for enrich the Geophysics in our region. SEG UIS Chapter founded your own Young Researchers Group in Geophysics:Semillero de Investigación en Geofísica Aplicada y Computacional (SIGAC)

Short Courses
SEG UIS CHAPTER organizes Short Courses related to Seismic Interpretation, Seismic Processing, Stratigraphy, Structural Geology and other topics deal with Geophysics. The principal objective of this courses is improve the Geophysics background in UIS.
Challenge Bowl
SEG UIS CHAPTER participates in Challenge Bowl Competition. Many students use your knowledge in Geophysics, Geology and SEG.
Lectures
SEG UIS CHAPTER organizes Lecturers in UIS. This lectures are offered by Industry Professionals and Professors in our University.
Field Pratice
Field Pratice are organized for our Students. Those activities focuses on Seismic and Geoelectric data adquisition. Many students are grateful for those opportunity for share knowledge and skills with your peers. SEG UIS CHAPTER organize a Special Event called: SEG/ACGGP Geophysics Camp, this activity ties many students from different Universities from Colombia.
SEG International Activities
Distinguished Instructor Short Course
In 2014 SEG UIS CHAPTER received the 2014 Distinguished Instrutor Short Course by Shawn Maxwell. Microseismic Imaging of Hydraulic Fracturing: Improved Engineering of Unconventional Shale Reservoirs DISC 2014. Students, Geologists, Geophysicists, Industry Professionals and persons related to geophysics participated in this Special Event. The topic of this Short Course was very interesting for all persons because Unconventional Shale Resources are investigated in Colombia.
Honorary Lecture
SEG UIS CHAPTER participates in the Honorary Lecture Program. In 2014 SEG UIS CHAPTER received to Mauricio Sachi with him Lecture: Practical aspects of regularization and interpolation of 5D Seismic data

SIGAC is the Youngs Researchers Group in Geophysics at UIS. SIGAC began your activities like a small students group. Now SIGAC ties many Professionals, Geologists, Geophysicists with our undergraduate students for enrich your knowledge and skills in seismic interpretation, seismic processing, Petroleum Geology,Sedimentology, Geoelectric and many topics related to Geophysics.
