Biography 2007[1]

Rodney William Calvert (d. 2007) joined Shell in 1969 after earning a degree in physics from Oxford University and a Ph.D. in geophysics from Imperial College, both in the U. K. He held a variety of jobs in Shell, including chief scientist of geophysics. His research interests were in borehole seismology and 4D. He was the SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course lecturer in 2005. Calvert died at his home in Houston, Texas, on November 22, 2007, after an extended illness.

Andrey Bakulin and Rodney W. Calvert received 2006 Honorable Mention (Geophysics) for their paper The virtual source method: Theory and case study.[2]
