Maitri Erwin graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1998 with a BS degree in geology, and from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 2003 with a MS degree in structural geology and an interdisciplinary MS degree in computational sciences and geophysics.
Since 2003, Maitri has worked in various capacities in exploration, field development and R&D. These include seismic interpretation, seismic inversion, reservoir characterization, prospect maturation, subsurface technology, exploration bid rounds, drilling recommendations, team management and business development.
Between 2003 and 2009, Maitri worked at Shell Exploration and Production Company in New Orleans, Louisiana as a field development geophysicist. She is now Manager, Global Exploration New Ventures Latin America at CNOOC International based in Houston, Texas.
Maitri is First Vice President of the Geophysical Society of Houston, board member and advisor to Project Gutenberg, and an emeritus member of the University of Wisconsin Department of Geoscience Board of Visitors.
Maitri is a member of the SEG Foundation board, SEG Bylaws committee, and represents the Geophysical Society of Houston on the SEG Council. Maitri is a founding member, former Finance Chair, and former Chair of the SEG Women's Network Committee. She also provides input to the SEG Growth program, which aims to provide professional development and leadership opportunities to emerging SEG members.
