To honor the memory of J. Clarence Karcher and his enormous contribution to exploration geophysics, the J. Clarence Karcher Award is awarded in recognition of significant contributions to the science and technology of exploration geophysics by a young geophysicist of outstanding abilities who merits such recognition. Recipients must be less than 35 years of age on November 1 of the year preceding presentation of the award. A maximum of five awards can be given each year.*

SEG's Honors and Awards Committee seeks nominations each year to recognize deserving individuals of the J. Clarence Karcher Award. To ensure that candidates receive proper consideration, nominations must be submitted by January 1. This allows the committee sufficient time for thorough evaluation and recommendations to the SEG Board of Directors. Nominations are accepted at https://seg.org/honors-and-awards-nomination/.
