Guillaume Cambois (born 1964) is Executive Vice President Imaging & Engineering
Mr. Cambois joined PGS in 2007. He started as senior advisor spearheading the GeoStreamer technology deployment. From March 2009 he acted as Marine President Asia-Pacific. Prior to joining PGS, Mr. Cambois spent 20 years with CGG where he held various management positions including Executive Vice President Data Processing and Chief Technology Officer. Mr. Cambois is an active member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists where he served as Vice President in 2007-2008. Mr. Cambois holds a Ph.D. in Geophysics from the University of Texas at Austin.

Guillaume Cambois has been an SEG member since 1988. He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique de Paris (1987) and received a PhD in geophysics from the University of Texas–Austin (1991). He has spent his entire career working for CGG (now CGGVeritas), initially in the field but then mostly in R&D and data processing. He became R&D manager in Houston in 1995, processing center manager in Calgary in 1998, vice president Technology in 1999, and executive vice president Data Processing in 2001. He is currently chief technology officer Services and executive vice president Data Processing for CGGVeritas. Throughout his geophysical career, Guillaume has authored many papers, chaired numerous technical sessions, and organized several SEG post-convention workshops. He received the EAGE best presentation award in 1998, best poster award in 2001, and an honorable mention for best presentation from SEG in 2002. He also received honorable mention for Best Paper in GEOPHYSICS in 2000. He was a member of THE LEADING EDGE Editorial Board from 1997 to 2001 (chairman 1999–2001), and coordinated the Acquisition/Processing column from 1996 to 2001. He currently serves on the SEG Research Committee, the Distinguished Lecturer Committee, and was until last year a Council representative for District 7. Guillaume is also a member of EAGE and AFTP (Association Française des Techniciens du Pétrole).
Position Statement
Exploration geophysics has truly become a global affair. SEG has embraced this trend and has taken significant steps to adapt to this new envi- ronment. The Global Membership classification and the Regional Lecturer program are recent initiatives that spring to mind. During my travels around the world as part of my current job, I have witnessed firsthand the early impact of all these new policies: They are welcome and necessary for the future of our profession. At the same time, our industry is adopting new technologies at an accel- erated pace. Multicomponent, 4D, wide-azimuth marine acquisition, sub- sea EM, to name but a few, are making their way into the mainstream. Making sure that our membership at large keeps abreast of all these new developments is a critical mission of SEG. I am honored to be nominated for this position, and to be given the opportunity to give something back to the Society and its members. My main focus will be on continuing education and promoting our science in uni- versities around the world. I will also work on establishing closer ties with other societies to optimize our global presence.

Guillaume Cambois graduated (1987) from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, France, and received a PhD (1991) in geophysics from the University of Austin. From 1991 to the present he has worked for CGG Geophysical Canada as a research geophysicist, manager of research, and manager of data processing. His professional interests are acquisition and processing methods. He is a member of SEG, EAGE, CSEG, and AFTP.
