(līb’ nits) A formula for the n^th derivative of the product of two functions f and g:

(dⁿ(fg))/(dxⁿ)= ∑ _k[n:k] (d^n–kf)/(dx^n–k) (d^kg)/(dx^k),

where [n:K]=n!/[(n–K)!K!]. Named for Gottfried Wilhelm Leibnitz (1646–1716), German mathematician.
