Aurélien Mordret received his MSc in Seismology from Ecole et Observatoire des Sciences de la Terre (EOST), Strasbourg University in 2010. He received his PhD from Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris, France in 2014. His thesis title is Imaging and monitoring using correlations of seismic noise in an industrial context: Application to the Valhall network. Aurélien is currently a postdoc at MIT in the Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences Department, Massachusetts, USA. Aurélien’s research interests focus on different aspects of seismology including, but not limited to: seismic interferometry, volcano seismology, surface-wave analysis for near-surface characterization and local scale tomography, and seismic anisotropy. He developed many applications for seismic interferometry in an industrial context. He is very interested in working with very dense seismic networks which are new tools that he believes will allow us to make tremendous progress in seismology. In his research, Aurélien also was involved in micro-seismicity analysis as well as near-surface studies using ground penetrating radar, gravimetry, GPS, and electrical resistivity tomography.
