The 9th International Geosciences Student Conference will take place from July 5th to the 10th 2020 at RWTH Aachen University in the historic city of Aachen, Germany.

The International Geosciences Student Conference (IGSC) is a student-led and student-organised event. It is an excellent opportunity for the organisers to build up leadership skills, experience collaboration within a highly motivated team of students, and to look beyond their home university to discover the nearly endless opportunities within the different fields of geosciences. Also, networking with peers and sponsors, and making a difference in the community or other aspects of organising an IGSC.

For more information about the IGSC 2020, please visit our official homepage at igsc2020.rwth-aachen.de or send us an email to [email protected].

Call for abstracts and registration for the conference will be opened in early 2020 on the homepage.

Technical Programme

The technical programme of the IGSC 2020 will an extensive student programme with various activities. These include student oral presentations, student poster sessions, technical workshops, keynote lectures and lab visits.

The technical programme will evolve around the four main topics of:

  • Energy
  • Environment & Sustainability
  • Engineering
  • Resources including the EIT Raw Materials University Day

Social Programme

We invite you to take part in the social programme in order to get to know your fellow IGSC 2020 participants. Our social programme includes cultural and networking opportunities, incorporating the well-known student life in Aachen.

We would like to take you on a city tour through the historic city of Aachen where several kings have been crowned. The Three-Country-Point, the shared border point between Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands and field trips to the general Aachen area complement this programme.

During Geo Quizzes, you will be able to demonstrate their knowledge and to compete for the respect of fellow students.

At the core of the IGSC lies networking and we are convinced that a warming Icebreaker get-together after the first conference day and a Farewell Party will create a collaborative and informal atmosphere.
