Overview

A Canadian overthrust synthetic dataset prepared by Sam Gray and Gary Maclean, using John Etgen's finite-difference code. It was created for the CSEG paper "Migration from topography: improving the near-surface image"[1]. This data was widely circulated among Canadian contractor companies in the mid 1990's.

Data information:

  • Number of shots: 277 shots
  • Number of traces per shot: 480 traces per shot record
  • Geometry: Split-spread
  • Group interval: 15 m
  • Shot interval: 90 m
  • Offsets: -3600 m to 3600 m for all shots except roll-in and roll-out
  • First shot point and first group at location: 1
  • First trace of the velocity model is also at location: 1

How to obtain a copy of the data

The easiest way to obtain a copy of the dataset is to use the links below.

Madagascar processing scripts

Model94 Prestack dept migration comparison

If you have installed the Madagascar development release, you have scripts to download and display the data. You may need to update your copy of the Madagascar installation to ensure you have contents added after March 2015. To update your copy of Madagascar enter this dialog into a terminal window:

cd $RSFSRC/book/data
svn update

To run the processing scripts enter this dialog into a terminal window:

cd bpmodel94/fetch
scons view
