Position Statement

The SEG has been an integral part of my career allowing access to the finest minds in geophysics in a personal and inclusive manner. I have had the opportunity to practice geophysics in dozens of geologic basins, countries, and cultures around the world. This has allowed me to develop a worldwide network of colleagues. My recent positions as First Vice-President of the SEG and General Chairman for the 1997 Annual Meeting have strongly prepared and qualified me to serve on the Executive Committee.

Sustaining the generation of new ideas is a priority issue: With increasing "globalization" and "internationalization," technology and the SEG play a leading role in innovation and creativity.
