James D. Robertson and William C. Pritchett received the 1985 SEG Best Paper in Geophysics Award for their paper Direct hydrocarbon detection using comparative P-wave and S-wave seismic sections.[1]

Biography 1985[2]

William C. Pritchett is the manager, Regional Exploration Services, for the Northeastern Region of ARCO Exploration Co. In 1948 he received his M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the the University of Texas at Austin. He was employed as an associate research engineer by the Atlantic Refining Co. in their Research and Development Department in Dallas. In 1980, after more than 31 years in research with ARCO, he became director, data acquisition, for the Frontier District and assumed his presejnt position in 1982. He was in charge of shear wave research during the last several years he as in R&D. He is a member of SEG.
