Edith Sotelo
My full name is Edith Sotelo Gamboa, Gamboa is my second last name. I am a PhD student in Geophysics at Texas A&M University, working under the supervision of Dr. Richard Gibson. My background includes engineering degrees in Petroleum Eng. (MS) and Chem. Eng. (BS) as well as field experience as wireline engineer and teaching experience as field training instructor in UEA and lab instructor at Texas A&M (2015-current).
My current research focuses on developing efficient numerical methods to optimize seismic wave propagation applying the Finite Element Method. The main application focuses on capturing the behavior of seismic waves with small wavelengths without the need of excessive mesh refinement, as in the case of media with high velocity contrast (ex. karstic environments) and high frequency sources (ex. microseismicity).
