Any signal can be altered in different ways. For example, the signal can be convolved with a theoretical geophone response or an inelastic absorption operator or the calculated impulse response of the recording filter or any combination of such components. Further processing is also possible. For example, the signal thus created can be band-pass-filtered, integrated, differentiated, deconvolved, or spectrally balanced, among other possibilities. Any combination of these possibilities could produce the required input signal.
