Accordingly, various filtering operations, which come under the heading of wavelet processing, are used to improve the quality and interpretability of final displays. Wavelet processing creates a visual picture of the subsurface, which then can be interpreted meaningfully by geologists and geophysicists. At this final stage, the physical properties of transmitted wave motion are no longer important or even needed.
