{{#category_index:N|net to gross thickness}} The net thickness of a unit is the thickness of reservoir-quality lithology (usually sand) in the unit. This sometimes tends to be proportional to the seismic amplitude, if the bed’s gross thickness is less than a quarter of the dominant wavelength. The gross thickness is the entire thickness of the unit (often given by the time interval between reflections from the top and base of the unit (where the thickness>wavelength/4), sometimes given by peak-to-trough measurement.
