{{#category_index:C|condition number}} The value given when the largest element of a diagonal matrix is divided by the smallest element. For a nondiagonal matrix, the condition number is the ratio of the largest to smallest eigenvalues. The condition number is infinity if an element is zero. A too large condition number means that the matrix is ill-conditioned and therefore unstable.
