(blon dō’) A method of determining vertical time to a predetermined depth based on first-break data and the assumption that the instantaneous velocity is proportional to a power of the depth. The modified Blondeau method assumes that the constant of proportionality and the exponent can vary with depth. See Musgrave and Bratton (1967). Named for Ernest E. Blondeau (1904–1939), American geophysicist.
