Biography 2008
S. Operto received an engineering degree (1990) from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers (ENSAM), Aixen-Provence, Paris, and a Ph.D. (1995) in marine geophysics from the University Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris 6). He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Geophysics of the University of Texas–Austin for one year and at the Institute for Geophysics of the Paris School of Mines for 17 months, in 1996–1997. In 1998, Operto joined the CNRS at UMR Géosciences Azur as a research scientist. His professional interests are wave-propagation modeling and seismic imaging by full-waveform inversion. He is a member of EAGE and SEG.
