A seismic reflection whose travel path is appreciably longer than required for a primary reflection from the deepest interface reached. A long-path multiple tends to appear as a separate event rather than blending into the tail of the primary. For example, the energy might be reflected by a deep reflecting interface, then at or near the surface, and again by the same or another deep interface. See Figure M-18.
