1. Measurement of drift, which is the azimuth and inclination of a borehole from the vertical. Often made from dipmeter survey data. Sometimes involves a continuous log and sometimes measurements made only at discrete levels. 2. An IP or resistivity-survey method starting from a position such as a drill hole to find the trend direction of an anomalous subsurface body.
