(b) The selection of colors can enhance or obscure features. The channel indicated by dark red on this horizon slice is nearly obscurred by use of too many colors. (c) Color compared with variable area permits visualization of both positive and negative amplitudes in like manner to avoid the polarity bias associated with variable-area displays.
