Philip H. Nelson obtained his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in the earth sciences at M.I.T. in 1962 and 1967, respectively. During 1967-1977 he was employed by Kennecott Exploration, Inc. where he worked on the induced polarization and electromagnetic methods for mineral exploration and on the applications of borehole techniques in mineralized systems. He is a member of SEG and SPE.
