Louis M. Liro received a B.S. (1978) in geology from the University of Connecticut and M.S. (1979) from the University of Chicago. Since 1979 he has been a geologist for Texaco's Exploration and Producing Technology Dept. in Houston, where he has worked with both geophysical and geological research groups. His research interests include seismic and sequence stratigraphy, basin analysis, salt tectonics, and integrated exploration methods. He is a member of SEG, AAPG, GSA, SEPM, and RMAG.
