Lawrence G. Christie was a Charter Member of the SEG. Little is known of him.

He was a graduate of the Engineering Department of the University of California, class of 1920. Christie was also active in the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers in 1923, the Houston Geological Society in 1947, and in the American Association of Petroleum Engineers in 1962.
