John Wride received a B.S. (1976) in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University. After working for an engineering consulting company, he joined Exxon Production Research Company in 1978, participating in geophysical acquisition research projects in land and marine environments. He transferred to the geophysical operations group at ExxonMobil Exploration Company in 1999, where he is now a technical adviser.
