Mr. Jerome F. Freel (1911-2011), Co-founded W&T Offshore Inc. in 1983 and served as its Secretary since 1984 until December 2, 2011. Mr. Freel was actively involved in the oil and natural gas business since 1934, first as a geophysicist for eleven years with the Humble Oil and Refining Company, then in 1945 as founder and President of Research Explorations, Inc., a geophysical survey contractor to major oil companies, including Humble until it was sold in 1963. In 1964, he became founded and President of Kiowa Minerals Company, a company that engaged in development drilling operations in Texas and Louisiana. Mr. Freel served as a Director of W&t Offshore Inc. since 1983 until December 2, 2011 and served as its Chairman Emeritus. Mr. Freel passed away on December 2, 2011.

Mr. Freel was recognized for his contributions to the oil and gas industry by being awarded a Special Commendation in 2010.
