James E. Pickard received his B.S. (1972) and M.S. (1973) in geology from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute. He was employed by Geophysical Service Inc. in 1973, joined Tetra Tech Inc. in 1975, and spent the next 7 years exploring the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska, leaving as area geophysicist, responsible for all geophysical interpretation. From 1981 to 1991, he worked for Forest Oil Corp. in both exploration and development. He is presently a consulting geophysicist in Lafayette, LA, specializing in velocity analysis and 3-D interpretation utilizing the Landmark workstation. he is a member of SEG and has served as an officer of the Southwest Louisiana Geophysical Society.
