SEG Best Paper in Geophysics Award 1965
Milton B. Dobrin, Arthur L. Ingalls, and James A. Long received the 1965 SEG Best Paper in Geophysics Award for their paper Velocity and frequency filtering of seismic data using laser light.[1]
Biography 1965 [2]
Born in Brazil, James A. Long received his B.A. degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1937, majoring in Physics. He worked for Pan American for nine years as a computer, party chief, and seismic review interpreter. He joined United Geophysical in 1946, serving as party chief and supervisor in Venezuela for five years. He then worked out of Rio de Janeiro as Manager for Southern South America. He was United's Regional Manager for South and Central America from 1959 to 1962. He is now Staff Geophysicist in United's Technical Services Department in Pasedena.
Mr. Long is a member of SEG, EAEG, and AAPG.
