Henry L. Grant is noted for his geophysical competence and his leadership in industry. He served as the 1990-1991 SEG President.

Biography for SEG President Elect Candidacy

The Leading Edge, June 1987, Vol. 6, No. 6   Henry L. Grant, candidate for the President-elect, has been a member of SEG for 40 years. He most recently served the Society as First Vice-President of the 1981-82 Executive Committee. In 1980 and 1981 he was Chariman of the Goverment Affairs Committee and from 1981 through 1983 he served on the Education Foundation Endowment Committe, responsible for the geophysical service and manufacturing companies.

Grant received his B.S. in petroleum geophysics from St. Louis University in 1949 and joined Wesstern Geophysical Co. where he advanced to vice-president of Eastern Hemisphere operations. In 1970, he became executive vice-presidentof Seismograph Service Corp. in charge of worldwide operations. When Geosource was organized in 1973, he was recruited to become president of Ray Geophysical which he merged with Petty Geophysical to form Petty-Ray Geophysical.

In 1977 he founded Grant Geophysical Corp. and during the next 4 years merged Olympic Geophysical, Petroleum Geophysical Corp., Louisiana Oil Exploration Co., and Globe Universal Sciences into Grant. He was president of Grant Geophysical until 1983 and continued as consultant until 1984. In 1985 Grant was recruited to become president and chariman of the board of Grant-Norpac Inc.(Grant merged with Norpac Exploration in 1984), and shortly thereafter entered into an agreement to merge Grant-Norpac with Seiscom Delta United where he now serves as president. Grant has been a member of the board of directors of the International Association of Geophysical Contractors since 1974 and served as president in 1975. he was elected a

Life Member of the association in 1984. Grant has directed operations in over 40 countries and has published the papers, "Marine Seismic Operations" and "Multiple Reflections in Seismic Prospecting." He is a member of the Houston Geophysical Society, the Canadian SEG, and EAEG. In 1980 Grant received the Alumni Merit Award from Luois University.
