Taxonomy GSH300

Consists of a pair of similar coaxial coils separated by a distance equal to their radius. An electric current in the coils produces a uniform magnetic field in the center of the system. The gamma strength of the magnetic field may be calculated accurately from the coil dimensions and strength of the electric current. This device may thus be used to calibrate magnetometers. The housing for the coil includes a battery, rheostat (variable resistance) and millimeter (current measuring instrument).
