Gordon M. Greve is a geophysicist who is known for his expertise in exploration geophysics and for his service to SEG. He served as the 1994-1995 SEG President.

Gordon M. Greve, candidate for President-Elect, received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and master's and doctorate in geophysics from Stanford University.
He has been with Amoco since 1960. He was involved in seismic exploration activities in Utah, Texas, and Louisiana until 1967 when he was assigned to the research staff to work on seismic acquisition problems in Canada, Wyoming, and the Texas Gulf Coast. In 1969 he transferred to New Orleans to solve technical geophysical problems encountered in the southeastern US and Gulf of Mexico. He was promoted to assistant manager of geophysics in 1977, and was responsible for the technical integrity of US geophysical operations as well as coordination of operations and research. He became manager of geophysical research in 1980 and manager of geophysics for Amoco's worldwide activities in 1986. In 1991, he became manager of exploitation technology, responsible for geoscience applications in resource development. He currently is vice-president of exploration technology and services.
Gordon has been an SEG member since 1959. He has been Chairman of the Student Sections/Academic Liaison Committee, Vice-Chairman of SEG's 1984 Annual International Meeting in Atlanta, First Vice-President (1990-91), SEG Chairman for the 1992 Moscow International Conference and Exposition, and is currently Secretary of the SEG Foundation Trustee Associates. Gordon has served the Southeastern Geophysical Society as first vice-president, and editor of its Newsletter.
He is a member of the. Ocean Studies Board of the National Academy of Science, AAPG, EAEG, and the Geophysical Society of Houston. He was previously a member of the Four Corners Geophysical Society and the Geophysical Society of Tulsa. Gordon is married with two children and currently resides in Katy, Texas.
