Gary Murphy
Gary E. Murphy and Samuel H. Gray received the 1999 SEG Best Paper in Geophysics Award for their paper Manual seismic reflection tomography[1]
Biography 1999 [2]
Gary E. Murphy received a BS (1978) in geology from the California State University at Los Angeles. He started his professional career with Geophysical Systems Corporation in Pasadena, California where he worked with data acquisitions systems and high-fold 3-D prestack time migration. He went on to Seismograph Service Corporation where he became a seismic programming supervisor. He was a research scientist with Amoco from 1985 until 1999. He is currently consulting. His interests are in multicomponent seismic imaging, anisotropy, velocity analysis, and computer graphics.
