{{#category_index:V|viscoelastic}} Having a stress-strain relationship which includes terms proportional to both the strain and the rate of change of strain. Leads to attenuation of seismic waves dependent on the square of the frequency. A viscoelastic solid behaves as a solid on a short time scale and as a liquid on a long time scale; it is also call a Voigt solid.
