{{#category_index:T|terrane}} (t∂ rān’ or ter’ ān) A body of regional extent, whose geological history differs from that of surrounding terranes. At least one of the terranes is allochthonous and adjacent terranes were fused to it by collision at an active plate margin. Often fault-bounded.
