(ster’ ē ∂ graf, ik) **1**. A representation of directional information used in three-dimensional structural problems. A **stereonet** or **Wulff net** is used if angular relations are to be preserved and a **Schmidt** or **Lambert net** if areas are to be preserved. Lines are represented as points indicating their direction, planes as either great circles (**cyclographic projection**) or points for axial lines perpendicular to the plane (**polar projection**).
