{{#category_index:S|steam stimulation}} High-pressure steam is injected into a formation for several days or weeks, following which the formation ‘‘soaks’’ up the heat, allowing viscous oil to flow more freely when the same well is put on production. The entire process is then repeated. Also called steam soaking and huff and puff.
