Interference between the direct (or ground) radio wave and waves reflected from ionized layers in the ionosphere. The ionization results from sunlight and the ionized layers vary around sunrise and sunset, so sky-wave interference is especially variable at these times. Sky-wave interference degrades the accuracy and range of radio-positioning systems.
