The general attitude or configuration disregarding features smaller than a given size. Regional dip is the general dip attitude ignoring local structure. Regional gravity is the gravity field produced by large-scale variations (long wavelength components) ignoring anomalies of smaller size. Often it is the field produced by density variations within or below basement. See residualize.
