The result of adding to or subtracting from a phase measurement. In the time domain, a phase shift of ${\displaystyle \phi }$ is equivalent to a time shift of ${\displaystyle {\frac {\phi }{2\pi f}}}$, where f=frequency of the respective component being shifted. Phase shifts result in change of waveshape unless all components are shifted proportional to their frequencies.
